LACK OF VISION
A
vision is purpose in pictures. Like I have already indicated earlier, each one
of us was created by God with a purpose to accomplish and that all of us have
got inherent abilities that are related to our purpose. Purpose is theoretical;
we get vision when we begin to conceive ideas in our mind. The ideas are then
conjured in to vivid pictures in real life. The visions will remain as mental
pictures until we begin to apply them in real life, then they become actions.
Therefore an action is an idea applied in real life. This is to mean no one can
become anything they have not thought about, nothing under the sun can become
unless it is first conceived and conjured by human mind premised on purpose.
For example, before a jumbo jet can be fly, the designer must first of all see
it fly in his mind, before a carpenter designs a chair, he/she must first of
all see the chair clearly in his mind absence of which, he cannot design it.
Lack of vision is therefore not absence of purpose; rather it is failure to
form mental images of purpose. Purpose is need driven; a need is a problem that
must be solved. Therefore, human beings meet their purpose when they attempt to
solve problems. It is amazing when you sit back and observe Gods great plan for
humanity. With reference to Genesis 1, God did not create Adam with everything
that he needed instead; he hid these things in the environment, so that,
whenever Adam needed a chair or bed, he had to look for the solution in the
tree.
For each purpose that
God has set aside for us, he has created a corresponding need and inside us he
has placed necessary abilities to offer solutions to that need. This is what I
mean when I say, ‘all of us are necessary and whatever we have (talents and
abilities) the world needs it.’ Lack of vision therefore, can also be thought
to be failure to find problems that need our talents to solve.
So, what is the
relationship between lack of vision and dead dreams? About 70% of us went
through the 8-4-4 system without ever discovering our talents; we ended up in
college pursuing a degree program that wasn't in any way adding value to our
real selves. When we left college, we ended up with a job that never made us
happy. We complained about it for so long and when we finally stopped
complaining, we tried to be comfortable we convinced ourselves that this is our
destiny we ceased to struggle and we calmed down. This is called “reaching a
settlement with life” we know we were not built for the job that we are on, but
we have decided to be happy any way. The fire that was once burning in us as
youth grew cold and the dream in us died a silent death. Only God knows what we
would have become and he is sad.
One thing I know
about dreams is that they have an ability to resurrect through next
generations. This is why I am personally addressing the youth. Find your
purpose, discover your talents, and live the original dream that was meant for
your parents and grandparents. Still I emphasize self rediscovery as the first
step towards living your purpose. Attend seminars whenever you get an opportunity,
participate in debate, and be eager to give a speech, be active in all forms of
sport. Carefully assess yourself to find out the things that make you alive and
happy when you do them because that is where your talents lie.
