THE NAGGING TEMPTATION OF PERFECT EXCUSES

the nagging temptation of perfect excuses
It is a chilly weekend morning in London, the sound of the gun goes off, not to signify beginning of a war, but the beginning of the 2016 London marathon. The marathon had been going for the last 2 hours. Even though over 39,000 people started the race together, there is a group of elite Kenyan and Ethiopian female runners who have broken off from the rest. They are about six in total, they are now doing their 37th kilometer, and then the worst thing that could happen to an athlete at this point happens.

HOW TO DEVELOP A GOOD HABIT

A good routine repeated; makes a good habit

Robin Shama simply puts it; “what separates the best from the rest comes to habits” a CEO of a successful company once said, it’s in our DNA to not just impress our customers but to amaze them.” What’s in your DNA? What habits have you cultivated to an extent that they are part of who are? Check habits like; start your day early, plan before you act, save before you spend, deliver more than what you promised, take a keen interest in other people and so on.

WANT TO BE AN ACHIEVER? STOP THESE HABITS

           Stop the Victim-speak.
One morning while on my way to work, I sat close to an old woman. She looked frail and weary. As usual, I do not like sitting close to someone I haven’t known. So I said hi to her and I introduced myself. This was my biggest mistake of that morning, so to speak.  I can’t remember her name because I am positive that she did not introduce herself. But I can still remember all the whining and complaining. It was such a painful one hour. I couldn’t wait to get to town and literally run away from her. She was poisonous. She did nothing but complain about everything and everyone. This then got me thinking……

FIVE UNDENIABLE TIPS THAT WILL GUARANTEE YOU PERSONAL GROWTH

Last weekend a friend of mine posed the question, ‘what is personal growth?’ after a long while of thinking, I came up with what I thought was a genius answer. ‘Personal growth is the only evidence of life’ Growth must be the justification of our means. Growth in all aspects of our life is what puts meaning to all our efforts. In fact, the only business that humans have on earth is to grow. You are like a tree and all seasons of the year, both harsh and gentle conspire to help you grow

THE PARADOX OF SIMPLICITY

These weekend we had a staff retreat at olepolos. The scene at this place is the most amazing. The valleys and the bushy hills and the horizons with blurry mountains are the most breathtaking scenes I have ever set my eyes on. I must confess that I did not have these thoughts at the beginning. What I saw was bare land, old tired shrubs, animal forsaken planes and hot hilly semiarid environments. I did not fall in love with it.

THE ABC's OF FRIENDSHIP

Everything you need to know about friendships
Someone once said that life provides us with free gifts which if held on to dearly will have a lasting mark on our lives. Such free gifts include the gift of life, the gift of family, the gift of good health, the gift of forgiveness of sin, the gift of happiness, the gift of love, the gift of hope and the gift of friendship. I remember a motivational speaker who once told us in high school that ‘your worth in life in determined by the kind of people you associate with.’ He went on to say, ‘your net worth is commensurate to your network.’
