HOW TO DEVELOP A GOOD HABIT

A good routine repeated; makes a good habit

Robin Shama simply puts it; “what separates the best from the rest comes to habits” a CEO of a successful company once said, it’s in our DNA to not just impress our customers but to amaze them.” What’s in your DNA? What habits have you cultivated to an extent that they are part of who are? Check habits like; start your day early, plan before you act, save before you spend, deliver more than what you promised, take a keen interest in other people and so on.
Your habits will define how close you are to your personal goals. As someone once put it, ‘a good habit is like a sturdy oak tree it starts off as a little seed planted in a single moment, fail to nature it and it dies a quick death. Tend to it a little each day and the thing grows until one day it is so strong, it’s next to impossible to break it. Sometimes to form a habit, you must find a good reason why it’s worth repeating. At the start, it will be a struggle against yourself. then with determination and positive attitude, the routine become easier and even enjoyable with time. Ezekiel Kemboi does 20 kilometers of road work every morning even on Sunday. David Rudisha does 3 hours of workouts every morning including Sundays. Julius Yego has three hours of gym workouts every morning followed by several hours on the field.  Yet when these individuals come out compete, they make it look easy as they win the medal and set world records. We are so lost in the glamour of victory and tears of joy such that we forget one thing that is most important: the early morning workouts and late evening practice; the routine. There is one common thing about stars; they take no break from their routine because it’s the definition of who they are. If they stop doing their routine we shall soon forget they exist. What is the routine that defines who you are an individual?   Remember, to set up a routine you must be willing to go an extra mile. And sometimes the things that help us to go an extra mile have nothing to do with immediate benefits. Sometimes it's just a promise of hope. Hope that tomorrow will be a great day. Hope that life will finally smile on us.
