I have a strong believe that the
difference between where you are right now and where you would like to be lies
in your ability to cultivate within you a spirit of confidence, self belief,
courage and positive self esteem. Here are a few things that you can do in
order develop self confidence.
a)
Believe
in the ‘I CAN’ and ‘I MUST’ attitude.
When you set yourself a goal,
think of it as an obligation to achieve it. Think of yourself as qualified and
capable enough to realize your goal and do not leave room for doubt in your
mind. If you constantly remind yourself that you can do it, then you will
realize that all your goals are within your rich and that all you need to do is
stretch yourself a little bit more in order to get to them. Remember, what can
be conceived can be brought to life at fullness of time; this is to say, the
fact that your brain conjured a vision of success even if remotely is evidence
enough that it is achievable through hard-work, persistence, self discipline,
positive attitude and self confidence.
Take a look around you; all the
technology that has come with computing, the jet-despite its enormous weight
can be able to overcome force of gravity and float in the air, the microchip
technology, internet and all other mega achievements that have ever been made
in our modern world. All this things before becoming what they are today were just
ideas that were conceived in the minds of human beings, who are not so
different from you and I. if you can just realize the potential of your
imagination, and how these imaginations can be converted in to awesome
projects, then you will believe that indeed, God has bestowed upon you
capabilities that if exploited can result in to endless possibilities. So, can
you become rich? Yes you can! Can you become an ‘A’ student? Yes you can! When
you set on a journey towards reaching your goals, can you get there? Yes you
must! ‘I CAN! I WILL I MUST’ is the attitude of successful minds. It has worked
for me and for many people in the world and there is no way it will fail on
you.
b)
Do not
underestimate your abilities.
Most of us are not yet
successful because we have constantly and persistently underestimated our
abilities.
You have thought of yourself as being too
small and unworthy to dream big and realize your dreams. Look at James in my story;
he underestimated his abilities as an eloquent public speaker and motivational
speaker. Everyone around him except himself thinks of him as being capable
enough to pursue his dream. In fact, most successful people will tell you that,
“I could have done what I am doing now long time ago had I just realized that I
could.” Do not wait for a perfect opportunity because this is a perfect
opportunity; do not wait to become more qualified because as it is, you already
are qualified; do not wait for God to bless you because he has already blessed
you with a dream. Think of yourself as the best, act like you are the best and
everybody around you will agree that you are the best. Think of yourself as
being worthy and deserving and a place will be set for you to dine with the
worthy.
So my dear reader, ask for that
managerial post because you deserve it, start that business because you can be
successful with it.
Start working hard for that A because it can
be yours if you so wish. In whatever you do, however you do it, allow everyone
else to underestimate your abilities except you. Do not let others opinion of
you become your reality because you are in control of your own destiny and how
far you can go depends on how far you are willing to let yourself go.
c)Be
bold
To be bold means to be clear
and certain about what your expectations from others. It also means to express
your thoughts or mind to others in a clear and concise manner without fear. It
would also mean to be courageous when facing difficult or unclear
circumstances. To be bold does not mean to be disrespectful and arrogant. A
bold person is one who finds it easy to ask for what he/she wants while being
careful not to dissuade the person being asked. If there is anything that
successful people know how to do well; that will be the willingness to risk rejection
and bending the rules of etiquette when it becomes absolutely necessary.
