Someone once said
that the problems with many unsuccessful people, is that; they set out to build
a wall in a day. This is usually the source of our misery and heartaches. Patience
is a technique that must be mastered by those who are hoping to gain financial
freedom.
The journey to success is a long-term journey that must be measured by
how many steps we make forward and not by how much distance we are yet to
cover. Our dreams are like the famous Chinese bamboo seed that must be tended
to for four straight years before they sprout, but when they finally sprout on
the fifth year, they grow up to 80 feet long in a matter of weeks. I want you
to imagine a farmer watering a seed for four years without anything to show for
his efforts. I want you to see people laugh at him as he waters what looks like
bare land. Think of how he is being mocked by his wife who expects him to come
back home with something tangible. Then I want you to imagine him seeing the
seed sprout for the first time after four and half years and the plant being
ready for harvest by the eighth week.
Our beginnings as
usual will be humble and most trying. We endure mockery and laughter when we
are starting. We put up with disappointments when we begin and most likely we
shall work most and have nothing to show for what we have done. If we are
patient enough and if we can tolerate the pain for a little while longer, our labour begins to pay, our profits expand and we soon become unstoppable. A gain
I implore you, do not set put to build a wall, instead focus on one brick and lay it as perfectly as a brick can be laid and soon you will have a wall.
In order to overcome
impatience, confirm the following before you start chasing your dream;
a) Be
sure that whatever you are engaged in is a passion and that you are well
talented to handle it.
b) Do
not seek to make a profit, seek to solve a problem.
c) Enjoy
and celebrate every bit of success, however little or negative it may be.
d) Be
open to mistakes and false starts and do not let disappointments weight you
down.
e) Be
sure that you can survive in the mean time as you pursue your dream.
f)
Plan well before you start.
g) Find
yourself a cheer leader who will hold your hand and walk with you through tough
times.
h) Find
someone who believes in your dream and work together. (A bird that can fly 100
miles per day can fly 175 miles in a day if flying in a group.)
i)
Always be optimistic; patience is an
expression of optimism.
